Bearded dragons are omnivores, requiring a diet of both insects and vegetables. A juvenile dragon’s diet should consist of approximately 80% insects and 20% vegetables, while adults need a diet that is about 80% vegetables and 20% insects. Offer a variety of insects, such as crickets, dubia roaches, and mealworms, gut-loaded with nutritious food before feeding.

Vegetables should make up the majority of an adult bearded dragon’s diet. Offer a mix of leafy greens like collard greens, mustard greens, and dandelion greens. Avoid spinach, kale, and broccoli in large quantities due to their calcium-binding properties. Supplement their diet with small amounts of fruits like berries and melon as occasional treats.

Supplementation is crucial to ensure your dragon receives all the necessary vitamins and minerals. Dust insects with a calcium supplement containing vitamin D3 several times a week, especially for juveniles. A multivitamin supplement can be used once or twice a week to provide additional nutrients and support overall health.
